Starting the Golf

Golf is a sport now accessible to many people. This game is considered as the game of the rich and influential people.

If you like to pick up golf but are on a budget here are some tips that can help you get started in the game.

Often golf sets are seen sitting in a friend's garage collecting dust and that's a pity. You can save money by getting a second-hand half set for the beginning.

A half set usually consists of the clubs like A Putter, A Pitching Wedge, A Sand Wedge, 9 Iron, 7 Iron, 5 Iron, Driver and Wood or Hybrid.

When you feel that you want to take your game to the next level, you can invest in a good set of clubs. These are available in the market in the $1500 to the $2000 range.

PC stands for Proficiency Certificate. With a Proficiency Certificate, you are certified to play at a golf course.

It shows that you know the rules and etiquette of the game. A Proficiency Certificate together with your half set will allow you to get started playing the game early on.

Collect the score cards and have your playing partner initials on the score card.

These score cards will be required when you decide to go for your handicap test.
A good golf instructor can take your game to the next higher level.

However, time and money spent with a golf instructor is worthwhile, after the basics of golf are learned by picking up a good book on the subject.

We'll be better equipped to pick the brains of a single handicap golf instructor after we have mastered the golf basics and golf terminologies like the correct golf grip, the back swing, what is a birdie, the takeaway, what is a cupped wrist, proper weight transition, strong, neutral, weak grip, how much shaft lean is required.
